Take into consideration low-light capability. Empty
PostSubject: Take into consideration low-light capability.    Take into consideration low-light capability. EmptyJanuary 30th 2011, 4:51 am

We only pass this way but once. In this world, there are no second takes where our moments are concerned. We can't turn back the time when our little ones took their first few tentative steps, spoke their first words or danced their first beat. The moments when they hugged us ceaselessly, when they played gleefully or when they entered preschool hesitatingly can never be repeated again. Graduations, proms, weddings-- all these are milestones in our lives that we want etched in our memories forever.

Thankfully, we live in an age where technology has allowed us to do just that. Video cameras have made it possible for us to freeze parts of our youth so we get to revive it again when we want to. Because video cameras do not just store ordinary replaceable stuff like beads and clothes, but the unique incidents of life, we ought to buy the best one around. Here are a few tips to help you out:

1. Fit features to your needs. This is the first step in choosing the video cam that suit you. Sure, you need one to capture life's moments, but is that all you want to do with it? If you want to share videos online, perhaps you'll want one with functions for this purpose. If you're considering a career in film and being the next Coppola, then a more expensive one with more advanced features and functions would be the better choice for you. For family use, however, the most basic one will do.

2. Consider video camera format. Do you need a videocam in high definition or standard definition? A high definition camera is definitely more expensive, but you'd want to make this investment particularly if you're going to be capturing loads of "action" scenes like your child's soccer games, for example.

3. Buy the best within your budget. It's understandable that you can't buy the best videocam but get the best with what you can afford. Competition has definitely lowered the prices of high definition cams, so it's really up to you to look for the best deal around. Scour the web and your local electronic stores before making a purchase.

4. Take into consideration low-light capability. Make sure that the videocam you'll ultimately decide to buy can record videos clearly even at night or low-light situations. A grainy footage results if the camera is not equipped with this function.

5. Make sure it's easy to manipulate. When you're taking action videos, you don't want to have to keep on looking at where the knobs and buttons are. So make sure that you can adjust features even without breaking filming. Also, a compact camera definitely makes it easier to take footages without lugging it around.

6. Factor in recording medium. Most videocams today can record footages in DVD, mini-DV tape or hard-disk. Because these recording media have their own share of pros and cons, take that into consideration before you make your purchase. Choose one that makes your videos last a very long time.

7. Accessories count. Does your purchase come with memory cards, rechargeable batteries and computer cables? If it does, that's a good buy.
