Harper41 and I had a disagreement about this. I was using the draft value chart in a trade offer, and he claimed it was stupid for sim leagues. I then made this point to him:

Quote:
I would make the point that the Draft Value Point System is more pertinent to a sim league than in real life. You may have heard that when the Broncos were shopping QB Jay Cutler, they declined trade packages from the Detroit Lions involving the #1 pick. This was because the #1 pick requires bonuses upwards of 25 million, and that number becomes higher with players at elite positions such as quarterback and left tackle. This is a large reason why teams regard the system created by Jimmy Johnson with less esteem due to the way signing bonuses have taken off since 1991 or so when he created it. This is of course nullified in a league such as this one without salaries, so on the contrary the Draft Value system is much more useful in this league than in real life.

He has yet to provide anything supporting his argument of his point (other than I am being unreasonable). So what is your opinion here?

I've gotta agree with you, although I would hate to have the #1 pick anyways, too much pressure lol.

Same, other than salary it's the same (although you could say that Madden underrates first year rookies). But overall, I'd say it's more valuable here.

Of course, it goes without saying that we are speaking relatively here. If any of us owned the #1 overall pick, or any pick for that matter, it would obviously be worth more to us than a sim league pick geek

What? That wasnt the argument at all, you said I had to add the value of the #10 pick on top of the #5 pick to get the #1 pick which I said was ridiculous.

Was the thing in quotes what he sent to you? Because if so, that doesn't reference the #5 and #10 picks at all.

Burned? Not at all. No, he initially said, I want value of the #10 pick because thats what the Draft Value Chart says I should get. I said thats terrible I will not be giving 2 top 10 pick values for #1, the Draft Value Chart is stupid for sim leagues anyway. He then took it as me saying the #1 pick is worth less in a sim league but the original argument was that #5+#10>>#1.

I think it is going to kick me out of here too, the site says it won't accept users over the age of 99, and whenever my made up birthday comes around I'll be 100.

Well nevermind, now I'm 19 again!
